HIKING THE HIGH COAST HIKE
You do not need to be an experienced navigator to hike the High Coat Hike. You will follow well marked trails. However, make sure you keep an eye on the map so you know where you ar. The hike changes all the time. You hike over rough mountans with amazing views, along sandy bays perfect for a swim and in the deep forests. Estimate 6-8 hours of active hiking per day.
The High Coast Hike takes you through the highlights of the World Heritage Site and the area that has been voted Swedens most beautiful nature. Welcome!
Follow the trails and keep an eye on the map.
Drink plenty of water.
Take breaks and enjoy the scenery.
Take a swim. You will love it.
Check in when you reach the nightcamps.
MIGHTY MOUNTAINS AND CANYONS
The hike takes you straight into the highlights of the High Coast. Mt. Stampberget, Mt. Slåttdalsberget, through the Slåttdalsskrevan and the beautiful Lake Tärnättvattnet before you reach the nightcamp at Tärnättholmarna just by the sea.
SANDY BEACHES AND DEEP FORESTS
Start the day by hiking up to the cave and the smaller canyon up to Tärnättvattnet before you set off down the mountain with amazing views. Soon you reach the sandy beaches and lunch is best taken by the Kälsviken Bay. Then the trail takes you into the woods and soon you are at the nightcamp Dal. If you got energy left you hike up Mt. Mossaberget after you have pitched your tent.
Mt.SKULEBERGET AND AFTER-HIKE
The shortest route but with the most dramatic finish. Follow the High Coast Trail to the majestic Mt. Skuleberget. You hike up the east trail to the topp, passing the cave. After the finish on the top of the mountain you hike down the South Mountain Trail to FriluftsByn where we celebrate our accomplishment at the After-Hike.
OUTDOOR SCHOOLS AND SEMINARS
During the High Coast Hike you will meet the people behind some of Swedens most popular outdoor equipment and get some great tips on how to make your outdoor life more comfortable.
THE POWER OF WOOL
On Thrusday night between 19:00 and 21:00 at the first nightcamp you will meet staff from the Swedish wool expert Woolpower. They will share their knowledge and also arrange some fun competitions.
On Friday between 12:00 and 15:00 Gränsfors Bruk will showcase their axes and share their skills at the beautiful beach Kälsviken.
On Friday night Swedish cooking expert Primus will serve hot dogs and showcase their stoves at the nighcamp of Dal between 18:00 and 19:00.
On Friday night between 20:00 – 21:00, Johan Skullman, outdoor expert at Fjällräven will share his knowledge during the Fjällräven Outdoor School on top of Mount Mossaberget above the nightcamp of Dal.
The High Coast Hike follow well marked trails with clear signposts. You also get a map with the route when you check in. Along the trail you will find staff to guide you if you need any assistance. However you need to make sure you know where you are by now and then looking at the map.
There will be guides hiking in the front and in the far back as well as in the middle and at the nightcamps. However most of the time you will be with your friends or by yourself. You will get an emergency number to call if you need assistance.

During the map-check we will tell you where to find water along the trail. You should carry with you app 3 liters of water when you sett off. People living in the area drink the water from the streams but as an organizer of these adventues we need to advice you to boil the water.
As you reach the nightcamps you need to check in with the guides on site. You also check out in the mornings. This is how we make sure you have arrived safely. This is one of the things you will have to remember. If not we will first search the campsite and then arrange a search and rescue along the trail.
During the High Coast Hike we camp at shared basecamps. The first night is spent on Tärnättholmarna and the second night on the fields in the woods of Dal. The shared campsites create a great atmosphere.
There are toilets on regular basis along the trail and at the nightcamps. However bring your own toiletpaper.
You are allowed to make fire at the marked fireplaces and you will find wood next to these fireplaces. You are not allowed to use wood from the forest or make fire outside the marked fireplaces.
Everything you carry with you into the High Coast Hike you bring with you to the finishline. No littering is allowed so please bring a small rubbish-bag.
