With the right preparation, Wanderlust Light is achievable for most people, and over the years, well-prepared families with children have successfully completed the hike.
It often comes down to your general fitness, combined with getting your body used to hiking with a loaded backpack before the adventure. Start light and gradually increase the weight in your pack as you prepare.
We hike around 10 kilometres per day, and on days two and three, you’ll have the option to join The Original for extra adventure loops if you feel like exploring more.
We do everything we can to give you the best possible experience of the spectacular nature and laid-back atmosphere – but how much you enjoy the adventure will also depend on how well you’ve prepared.
Can I end the hike early?
In more than 10 years of organising High Coast Hike, very few participants have had to cut their hike short. But it does happen.
Often, it comes down to not having tested your fully loaded backpack beforehand or prepared your body by hiking with a pack. For others, an old injury may start to cause problems along the way.
Whatever the reason, sore shoulders, back or knees can make it tough to complete The Original.
We’ll do everything we can to help you stay part of the adventure:
1. We can suggest shortcuts that mean missing some of the views, but allow you to take things a little easier.
2. At a few locations, we can help transport some of your gear. This is possible at Entré Syd and at the second campsite.
3. We can arrange transport back to FriluftsByn, where you can set up camp and get suggestions for your own hikes before meeting up with the rest of the group on day three.
4. We can arrange transport back to FriluftsByn, where you can relax and get ready for the After-Hike.
Our goal is to make sure you still have a great experience, even if things don’t quite go according to plan this time.
Who usually joins the hike?
High Coast Hike attracts adventurers and those who simply love being out on the trail from all over the world. From experienced hikers to curious beginners. Solo hikers, groups of friends, couples and families.
