DURING HIGH COAST HIKE

You hike at your own pace to the night camp where you check-in upon arrival. You will get all food that you need at check-in in Friluftsbyn but you bring your own equipment. Outdoor schools and seminars are arranged at each night camp: Tärnättholmarna, Kälsviken and Dal. You can refill on water along the trail.

IMPORTANT

THE TRAILS

The hike follow well marked trail. You will get a map at check in and can map out the route you plan to hike – Regular or Pleasure. Throughout the trail you’ll meet our guides as well as at the check-in at each night camp. They can help answer any questions you might have, other hikers are usually great help with that as well.

SAFETY

There will be guides along the trail and at the night camps. However, this is not a hike where you walk with a guide the entire time. We prefer for you to hike at your own pace and with whoever you want to hike with. At check-in you’ll get a number to our secretariat and in emergencies you call 112. You bring your own first aid.

WATER

During the map run through on Wednesday we’ll also go over where to find water along the trail. You should carry about 3 liters with you when you start. Those who live in this area drink water from flowing streams but as an organizer of this type of adventure I have to advice you boil your water before drinking it. The water levels are completely depending on the weather in the weeks leading up to the hike.

CHECKPOINTS

When you arrive at each night camp you check-in and when you leave in the morning you check-out. If you do not check-in we will first search the tent site and if we do not find you there we will arrange a search of the area. So please remember to check-in and check-out each day.

CAMP SITES

During the High Coast Hike we stay att communal night camps. It is not allowed to camp elsewhere in the park. The first night camp is at Tärnättholmarna and the second at Dal in the middle of the forest. This creates that great outdoor collective atmosphere.

TOILETS

There are outdoor toilets along the trail and at each night camp. They will be marked out on the map. Use these but also brong your own toilet paper.

MAKING FIRE

It is allowed to make a fire at certain locations. At these locations you will find fire wood. Do not take sticks from the forest to make a fire at any other spot than what is marked out.

TRASH

Everything you bring with you on this hike adventure you will be able to bring back with you to Friluftsbyn. You are not allowed to throw trash along the trail so please bring a trash bag to put miscellaneous trash such as empty food bags for example.
