Spectacular views are one thing – but it’s the sense of community that makes High Coast Hike truly special.

You’ll experience some of the most beautiful nature in Sweden. But it’s the atmosphere that keeps people coming back to High Coast Hike. This might just be the friendliest, most fun and feel-good hiking adventure you can experience. Come join us!

1. Pre-Evening

Most participants arrive on Wednesday for the welcome evening. Live music, tips for the hike ahead and a great, relaxed atmosphere.

2. Along the Trail

Go for a swim, take in the views, enjoy some time to yourself, join one of the outdoor workshops or chill around the campfire with fellow hikers.

3. At the Campsites

Go for a swim, take in the views, enjoy some time to yourself, join one of the outdoor workshops or chill around the campfire with fellow hikers.

4. The Top Cabin

Celebrate together at the finish line on top of the World Heritage Site. This is a feeling – and a moment – you’ll want to come back to.

5. After-Hike

On Saturday evening, we celebrate what we’ve achieved with a great party in FriluftsByn. You really don’t want to miss this!

High Coast Hike starts and finishes in FriluftsByn, the High Coast’s popular base for outdoor adventures and laid-back hangouts.

We hike at our own pace, but spontaneous encounters often happen along the trail. In the evening, you can choose to retreat and unwind or sit down and hang out with fellow hikers.

What is the High Coast Hike? »
  • High Coast Hike is one of Europe’s most popular hiking adventures, taking place every August and attracting hundreds of participants from all over the world.

You can choose between two distances – the classic The Original and Wanderlust, which is slightly shorter and gives you more time for breaks. You can also choose Wanderlust Light, where we help transport some of your gear, allowing you to hike with a lighter backpack.

You’ll find more information about each experience in the links below.

Over three days, we experience the very best of the High Coast World Heritage Site. We hike at our own pace through spectacular landscapes, carrying our own gear and tents to our shared campsites.

The adventure includes bus transfers, guides, food, outdoor workshops, the After-Hike and plenty of fun along the way.

In the evenings, you can relax, hang out with fellow hikers around the campfires or join one of the outdoor workshops, where you’ll meet some of Sweden’s leading outdoor brands.

The adventure kicks off with a relaxed welcome evening and finishes with a big After-Hike celebration in FriluftsByn.

    More information about each experience:

”This is my second year coming here on my own and meeting so many great people.”

    Sofia Nilsson

”We’ve put together the kind of adventure we love heading out on ourselves. This is going to be fun!”

    Jerry, FriluftsByn

”A big reason for coming back is the nice atmosphere. It kind of happens by itself when you set out like this.”

    Paul Wright

    THE GREAT ATMOSPHERE

    1. Pre-evening

The tip we hear most often from previous participants is simple: if it’s your first High Coast Hike, don’t miss the welcome evening. There’s a great sense of excitement in the air, especially as this is the first time many people are heading out on an adventure like this.

You can check in, pick up your food and take some time to repack your backpack. We’ll go through the map and share our best tips for the hike ahead, with plenty of time to simply relax and settle in.

You can also pick up a bargain or two when Woolpower opens a small pop-up shop with special prices. And if you have any questions about your gear, Naturkompaniet will be there to help. Getting some help adjusting your backpack is always popular.

In short – don’t miss the welcome evening! Check the times and plan your evening via the “Participant Briefing” link below.

Pre-evening is a popular optional get-together where we go through all the details and share our best tips for the adventure ahead.

”There’s such a great atmosphere when you arrive. We’re not hardcore outdoor experts – just regular people heading out on an adventure.”

”It’s amazing how quickly you get caught up in the atmosphere.”

    3. Night camp

You’ve made it to our shared campsite. Maybe you just want to find a quiet spot and take in everything you’ve experienced. Or perhaps you’d rather join fellow hikers around the campfire. If you feel like learning something new, you can take part in one of the outdoor workshops. Chances are, it’ll be a mix of everything – and that’s exactly what makes our little tent village out in nature such a special place.

    • Camp Tärnättvattnen
    • Camp Gyltberget

    Thu – Fri: Camp Tärnättvattnet

Our first campsite is set up on Tärnättholmarna, surrounded by the sea, sandy beaches and rocky shores. Here, you can also learn more about wool and make your own wool products together with Woolpower.

There are plenty of places to pitch your tent right by the sea. Find your own little spot to call home.

Meet fellow hikers from around the world around one of the campfires.

Enjoy breakfast with friends or new friends right by the sea.

Relax and unwind out on the cliffs.

    Fri – Sat: Camp Gyltberget

Our second campsite is set in a clearing in the forest at the foot of Gyltberget, close to Dalsjöfallet. For those who feel like joining in, we’ll have some fun challenges with great prizes, set up a small kiosk, and Naturkompaniet will share their best outdoor tips at the top of Gyltberget, with incredible views all around.

At the second campsite, we open a small kiosk, and you can also join in some fun challenges with great prizes.

A short walk into the forest, you’ll find Dalsjöfallet, where – depending on recent rainfall – you might be treated to an invigorating natural shower.

Don’t miss the hike up Gyltberget, where you’ll find Naturkompaniet and incredible views.

    4. Top Cabin

Hugs, cheers, toasts and group photos. The feeling of crossing the finish line at the top of the High Coast World Heritage Site is something you’ll always remember. Find a spot inside the Summit Cabin or out on its welcoming terrace, and cheer on the fellow hikers you’ve got to know along the way.

    Memories for life.

    That exact feeling.

The views from the top of the High Coast World Heritage Site are considered some of the most beautiful in Sweden.

    5. After-Hike

The After-Hike in the FriluftsByn courtyard (or indoors in Vardagsrummet if the weather turns rough) is another highlight of the adventure. We ease into the celebrations on the rooftops, which are reserved for us, and from 19:00, we have the whole place to ourselves.

Live music, prize-giving, great food and drinks, singalongs and spontaneous dancing. You don’t want to miss this.

That feeling. Sitting down, taking it all in and looking back on an amazing adventure.

Live music, great company, plenty of mingling and campfires. Everyone is welcome at the After-Hike.

Later in the evening, your legs somehow seem to find a whole new burst of energy.

There’s something special about letting loose under the open sky.
